The Vereniging Gurung Samaj Nederland (VGSN) is a non-profit association established, informally, on 1st March 2009 in Amsterdam. The association has been later registered formally under the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) on 18 August 2009.
Gurung Samaj Netherlands aims to continue preserve the unique Tamu (Gurung) tradition, culture, language and identity in Netherlands. Gurung Samaj Netherlands also plays an active role to promote Nepalese identity and multicultural society as well as in Netherlands.
The primary objectives of GSN are to:
– Maintain, preserve and promote Gurung culture, tradition as well as its language and literature.
– Provide a platform for the Gurung people living in the Netherlands and to help them to integrate into Dutch society
– Support training and educational projects for Gurung communities in Nepal.
– Contribution and assistance in case of emergencies such as natural disaster.
Besides, Gurung Samaj Netherlands works and contributes on welfare of Nepalese people in Netherlands. It acts as an official source of information regarding TAMU people in Netherlands.
